My prepaid Visa card is declined by Amazon. What can I do?

This can sometimes happen if you try to make a purchase from Amazon that is not the US version, such as Amazon UK, Amazon DE, Amazon ES, etc., due to having USD as the denominated currency of your Visa card.

In such cases, what you can do is change the currency in which Amazon charges you to the USD, using their currency converter. This option will be available to you at the checkout only if your order is eligible and you are using the desktop version of the website.

Here is what you need to do:

  1. Select Change next to your selected payment method.
  2. On the following screen, click on the Change card currency button.
  3. Then select My card is in a different currency.
  4. Finally, choose USD as the main currency and click Continue.

The Amazon Currency Converter will immediately display your payment total in the selected currency on the order summary page or the product details page for Buy Now. That way, you can see the amount you have to pay before you make your purchase.

If you can't see the option to switch the currency at the checkout, then your order or payment method is not eligible for Amazon Currency Converter. See Amazon Currency Converter Requirements or Amazon Currency Converter Supported Currencies for more information.

If after trying this, you are still getting your prepaid Visa card declined by the merchant, you can contact us directly at support@thankbox.com, and we will do our best to help you resolve the issue.
